Who is Atomic Mum?
I call myself Atomic Mum but in the real world I'm Jasmine Boniface, wife and mother of three, Master Little 7, Miss Little 6 and Master Little 2. We all live in Cairns, Australian, in a brick home that will soon be retro fried if I get my way. I sew, cook, garden, read, you name it I'll have a go at it. I'm better at some things than others, as we all are, and am happy to admit when I doesn’t work.
I've always loved history but after playing a computer game (Fallout 3) I fell in love with the retro feel of the game and wanted to know more. After hunting around our local library with much mixed results and talking to anyone I knew who might remember the 1940’s and 50’s in Australia, my interest was well and truly fixed.
I floated around the net looking at lots of different sites, some helpful, some not so. One of my favourite sites is Retro Renovation, and while I love the site, it's not very Australian. So I went off looking for some Australian retro sites but I haven't had much luck. It did inspire me to start my own blog and put all the Australian retro information I find, somewhere others can find it too.
In my blog I hope to cover all aspects of a vintage life from lovely homemade clothes to lush gardens, from inside to outside a vintage home. I’m all about the day to day stuff, the bits in life that happen every day but we never stop to think about them. So I hope you enjoy what I find and do, as I slowly turn my modern family into a retro one.
