Recipe of the Week

While last week I only achieved one dish this week I did dinner and dessert, both dishes were new to me but I was very happy with the end product and will probably add this to our “Eat more often” list. We had Pork Chops is Sauce followed buy Apple Tart.

Due to Darling Husband taking our camera to work and leaving it there I had to take photos with my phone and now I cannot work out how to get them off. I will add them later if I work it out.

The Retro Fridge

We are about to start the plans for our "new" retro kitchen, so I thought I should start working out what I would like to put in it. First thing first, a fridge. I've collected a few pics all from Australian sources’ of fridges and then went looking for the best match. Since Darling Husband wants a NEW fridge not a second hand retro fridge, it limits my options. As we are up north and might as well be rural it makes things that bit harder. So far all I have found is the Smeg, I love it but I think it’s smaller then our now fridge and this could be a problem.

The Good Wife Part 2

Well I haven't had much like thriffing or Op shopping in my area as yet but I have been collecting Australian mags, mainly from eBay. While reading through one I came across this article from Woman, May 2nd, 1949.

Sunday Sewing

Since I've had many childrens parties to go to this weekend I realy didn't get much vintage sewing done. A few half finished progects but nothing to blog about yet. So I thought I would share some sewing finds of mine. I got 5 copies of Australian Home Journal off eBay and while they are not in great shape they do give a good idea of what woman were up to.

Recipe of the Week

I had great hopes doing a three dish meal with all the trimmings and great photos but alas real life just steps in and says NO. My house hold is sick, each and eveyone. So this called for a rethink and a fast flick through the cook book. I wanted to use the food I brought for my planned meal as some of it we wouldn't normaly eat, then I found Minestrone. So here is my first Recipe of the Week, great for a sick house hold.

Shoe Harmony for Spring 1951

I won this catolog on eBay and it just arrived, so I thought I would share it. I just love some of the childrens shoes and think you can still get many styles like the ones here. The mens shoes don't look that differen but it's all in the detailes. If you can't read some thing and would like to know what it says please just leave a comment with the shoe number / page. Enjoy.

Retro Curtins

After much wait and wondering Master Little 2's new curtain fabric has arrive. This is one of the few things I can do now to make my family more retro. Is it not as cute as ever!

Vintage Cook Book

Today I got a vintage cook book, at just $5 I thought it was a great buy. Not sure as to the print date as it doesn't have one, will do some research on the publishers at a later date to see if I can find out.

Australian Retro Furniture

Thought I would just add this as I might forget to do it later. Found this nice little site, Mondo Trasho. They have a real world shop in Melbourne, Australia. Not all there stuff is Australian retro but they do have a good mix and some rather strange things as well.

McCalls 3519

I picked up this lovely little patten for Miss Little, McCalls 3519. It's a few sizes to big for her now but it's fairly easy to fix. It has a dress patten and a pinafore and also allows for fabric with strips. The patten was published in 1955 in the USA.

Australian Retro Furniture

Just a small post today. Between cleaning the house and getting Master Little 2 down for an afternoon nap I jumped on the net and found these two great sites, I've also added them to my side bar as well.

Add Vintage is a great site with a real world shop in Brisbane, Australia and an eBay store. I had to stop my self from looking at every thing, but it's one of the best retro Australia sites I have found so far.

The Secondhand Shop is not too bad. It's based in Melbourne, Australia and has two real world shops. Not as large a range has the first but still a good shop.

The Good Wife

When I first started making changes to our family and life style I did some digging. The best places to start with change is one's self, so I have to become a good wife, not much has really changed. It's not that change was needed but more I needed direction, I already do most of the things it is suggested for a good wife to do.
